Of all the great action movie characters, James Bond has to be one of the coolest. Not only was all of his gadgets great but his houses were even more spectacular! If there is anyone who knew about style and living a posh life it was ‘Bond, James Bond’.

The Beauty of Mykonos Island

Since it is summer and everyone is planning their vacations I though I should  post some photos of interiors of houses in Mykonos, Greece, and share a YouTube video.

Where is Mykonos? Mykonos is one of the most well known islands in Greece. It is famous worldwide for its night life, the beautiful beaches and famous people meeting point.

The architecture you meet in Mykonos and in Cycladic islands (one of them is Mykonos) is unique. It is characteristic white colour they use in painting the outside of all houses composed with different and vibrant colours they use in painting the window shutters. 

It is famous for their narrow streets with all the tiny souvenir shops, cafes shops and clubs. Night clubbing never stops in Mykonos and the fun goes 24 hours around the clock. It is the island of music and dance.

The islands are located at the crossroads between Europe and Asia Minor and the Near East as well as between Europe and Africa. In antiquity, when navigation consisted only of cabotage and sailors sought never to lose sight of land, they played an essential role as a stopover. Into the 20th century, this situation made their fortune (trade was one of their chief activities) and their misfortune (control of the Cyclades allowed for control of the commercial and strategic routes.

The Mykonos windmills are iconic feature of the Greek island of the Mykonos. The island is one of the Cyclades islands, which surround Delos in the Agean Sea. The windmills can be seen from every point of the village of Mykonos, the island's principle village, which is sometimes called the Chora on Greek islands. The windmills are the first thing seen when coming into the harbour, as they stand on a hill overlooking the area. 

There are currently 16 windmills on Mykonos. Most of them were built by the Venetians in the 16th century, but construction continued into the early 20th century. They were primarily used to mill wheat. They were an important source of income for the inhabitants. Their use gradually declined until they ceased production in the middle of the 20th century. Their architecture is similar. They all have a round shape, white colour and a pointed roof. Such windmills are found in almost all Cyclades islands. One of these windmills has been transformed into a museum. The whole village of Chora and the harbour are visible from this point.
